Description

  • You're invited to join us for an incredible duck and goose hunt in Canada with Tekton Saskatchewan Outfitters. Waterfowl experience is not necessary and this will be a bucket list trip to remember for experienced hunters and beginners alike! We'll have three full days to hunt, morning and evening, with the first and last day being travel days.
  • We'll have opportunities on huge numbers of ducks including mallards, pintails, wigeon and more, plus plentiful canada geese, specklebelly geese, snow geese, and potentially sand hill cranes.
  • The Tekton lodge is located at Alive Sky in Rosetown, SK and has a hot tub as well as a kitchen and fire pit. It can sleep up to 8 hunters and we can hunt comfortably the same amount in the field. After the last evening hunt we'll move to a hotel near the airport for ease in getting home the following day.
  • We will try and hunt out of an A-frame or panel blind for the majority of the hunts unless everyone in the group is capable of hunting out of layouts or lay down backer boards for close action in the socks. The hunting in Canada is world class and we will do our best to meet those expectations in the field. At the end of the day it is still hunting and we will work with you to try satisfy limits. Traveling to hunt, it is common to have a couple great hunts, an average hunt, and one that conserves shotgun shells. Knowing this ahead of time, our staff will strive to surpass that expectation.

  • We recommend packing in layers. Temperatures can be in the 30's and 40's in the morning to 60's and 70's in the afternoon depending on the time of year. Waders are not necessary as we will be targeting birds in dry fields or shallow sloughs. Comfortable waterproof boots would be great to pack along with a set of bibs or hunting pants. A comfortable waterproof jacket is important to pack as well in case we have some rain or snow. Camouflage is not required however clients will need drab colored clothing in its absence to match natural settings as best as they can.

Registration

  • Your registration cost of $3490 includes meals on site, accommodation, license, six hunts over three days, ground transport, guides, bird cleaning, and your first case of shells.
  • Excludes air travel, and meals en route. Rental guns can be made available for $65 per day for those not wanting to travel with their firearm and declare it at customs. We recommend an industry standard 20% gratuity for the staff.
  • Registrations options - register and pay in full, or payment plan of three installments (offered until four months out from the event)
  • Refund Policy - We all have busy lives and challenges that come up, so short of an absolute emergency let’s make sure our yes is yes. A $400 fee will be deducted from refunds requested more than 30 days before the event. Within 30 days, no refunds will be given other than under extraordinary circumstances.

Travel

  • If you plan to drive we'll have you meet us at the lodge in Rosetown, SK for dinner on Tue Sept 24th.

  • If you're flying in, please plan to arrive mid to late afternoon at Saskatoon Airport (YXE). From there we will travel together by rental car to the lodge. (Please speak with us before booking flights with a later arrival since that would necessitate an extra rental vehicle and costs)

  • For your flight home you'll be able to depart any time on Sat Sept 28th. We'll be staying near the airport in a hotel the evening before.

  • NOTE- Avoiding travel connections through Toronto airport is ideal. Our experience with travelers through that airport is the most difficult when passing through customs as well as declaring you firearm.
  • Book flights early. In the current market flights are fluctuating greatly so we strongly suggest booking flights right after you register unless you plan to drive.

Things To Note

  • On this retreat, some guys will most likely enjoy cigars or adult beverages and some guys don't. You do you. But please be aware some guys will, so if that's not comfortable for you to be around, we have other retreats that will be a better fit.

  • From the outfitter - a gentle reminder that alcohol and drugs do not mix with firearms. We reserve the right to ask clients not to participate if we feel safety of other clients and staff (including our retrievers) will be in danger. There will be plenty of time in the evenings for fellowship before and after dinner.

Next Steps

  • After you register below you'll want to organize your flights (unless you're driving).
  • We'll also get you more information on how to pack, who else is coming, and more as the retreat gets closer.
  • After you register we'll send you a link to declaration papers for your shotgun as well as a release to be filled out and returned. Other items needed are copies of current drivers license and HAL number for those who have hunted in Saskatchewan. This will help in getting licenses and stamps for your trip.
