Who It's For

  • This retreat is for Barnabas Members and our Guest List.
  • We serve pastors, NGO & ministry leaders, kingdom-minded business leaders, as well as missionaries and chaplains.

Description

  • You're invited to join us on a bucket list adventure as we head to Halibut Cove, Alaska for a trip you'll be talking about for years to come. We'll be hosted by an amazing husband & wife team at The Respite, a property custom-built for refreshing leaders amidst the wild beauty of Alaska. We'll be taking in the stunning landscapes, hiking up to a centuries-old glacier, and spotting whales, bald eagles, and more as we cruise the waters around the lodge. The journey to get there is worth it all as you sit by the fire, watching sunsets that a phone just can't capture. You could also spot black bears, mountain goats, sea otters, or moose at any moment. Yet you'll sleep soundly on amazing beds "glamping" under the stars in luxury tents with all the modern amenities. If you enjoy your wilderness paired with a hot shower, incredible food, and a comfortable bed, this is the trip for you!

  • OPTIONAL ADD ON - For an additional cost there's an opportunity to take a day trip deep sea fishing for halibut and salmon from a world-class charter boat. Talk to Jose for details if you are interested in adding this day trip.
  • Like everything we do at Barnabas Network, it’s really about the relationships at the end of the day. So beyond even the fishing, hiking, or taking a great nap, we’re hoping this time will refresh you and help you build community with other leaders like you.

Things To Note

  • No experience is necessary for any of the activities and all equipment is provided.

  • On this retreat, some guys will most likely enjoy cigars or adult beverages and some guys don't. You do you. But please be aware some guys will, so if that's not comfortable for you to be around, we have other retreats that will be a better fit.

Registration

  • Your registration cost of $2500 includes meals, accommodation, and activities.
  • Excludes air travel, and a fishing license. Also, the optional Anchorage hotel stay the night before (see below).
  • An optional day trip deep sea fishing is available at an additional cost. Ask Jose for details.
  • Registrations options - register and pay in full, or payment plan of three installments (offered until four months out from the event)
  • Refund Policy - We all have busy lives and leadership challenges that come up, so short of an absolute emergency let’s make sure our yes is yes. A $300 fee will be deducted from refunds requested more than 30 days before the event. Within 30 days, no refunds will be given other than under extraordinary circumstances.

Scholarships

  • If for any reason finance is a challenge for you being part of the retreat this year, please just click the Apply Now button near the bottom of the page in the scholarship section.
  • A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available each year to assist with your registration cost.

Travel

  • 1st Leg - To Anchorage. Flights from your home should be booked to Anchorage on whatever airline you choose.

  • 2nd Leg - From Anchorage to Homer. The only carrier for this is Ravn Air. You can book here: https://www.ravnalaska.com/. It is also possible to carpool in a rental vehicle by road. Talk to us about your preferences.

  • Everyone should shoot to arrive in Homer on Monday 8/26 between 11:00am and 3:00pm. Because the last leg of our journey is a boat ride to the cove, coordinating our arrivals is important.

  • For some guests, it may make more sense to arrive a night early on Sunday and stay in Anchorage. Please coordinate with us if so.

  • Departure from Homer should be booked for Saturday, 8/31. The best times are late morning through early evening.

  • Book flights early. Alaska is very busy in the summer and flights fill up quickly, particularly the small connections on Ravn.

  • Next Steps
  • After you register here you'll want to organize your flights (unless you're driving).
  • We'll also get you more information on how to pack, who else is coming, and more as the retreat gets closer.
