Description

• This trip could literally change your life. Our Founder, Paul, has traveled to Africa more than 20 times and he can't wait to share it with you. Whether you've been before or this is your first time in southern Africa, this will be a trip to remember!

• Our trip begins with a five day retreat, joined by local African pastors, at the world-class Shikwaru lodge in Mokpane, South Africa. We'll enjoy incredible food and make new friends in a stunning setting. There are opportunities to take safari game drives, hunt big game (if you'd like), get a massage, or just lay by the pool. All proceeds from our stay at the lodge will finance essential ministry to impoverished children across the region through their non-profit arm, Reaching A Generation.

• It's followed by two days supporting local churches and outreaches by visiting them, serving alongside them, and building relationships. These may be in South Africa or neighboring countries. The leaders of the organizations we'll be sending guests to support will have been part of your group in the retreat at the beginning of your trip.

• So this is more than just a retreat or a safari trip! 

  • Visit and support local churches or outreach organizations.
  • Participate in a soul-care leadership retreat, right alongside local African leaders. 
  • Help fund local ministry to those in need through your registration.
  • Encourage hard-working local pastors and leaders through your friendship and presence. 
  • Your registration helps fund scholarships for the local pastors to be part of the retreat.

• Pastors - please consider making this trip part of your missions budget. There will be opportunities to connect with some potential missions partners through this trip. You may also have the chance to preach that Sunday if you'd like to.

• Hunters - this property is enormous and presents opportunities to hunt more than 20 species in a world class hunting experience with highly experienced guides and trackers. It has produced many record book trophies.

  Sun pm: flights depart US/Europe.

Registration

• The "standard registration" option below includes meals, accommodation, ground transport, and activities including safari game drives, hunting guides, and more (a variety of options are available). It excludes your flights, tips, and personal shopping. Also, if you choose to hunt, any trophy fees, taxidermy & shipping are additional costs.
• The "premium registration" option includes the standard items above, plus a generous hunting allowance that would cover coveted trophies ranging from kudu to nyala or eland, or a combination of trophies such as wildebeest, gemsbok and impala. It excludes your flights, tips, and personal shopping. Taxidermy & shipping are additional costs. You will have the option to add additional trophies at any time during the trip. 
• Registrations options - register and pay in full, or payment plan of three installments (offered until spring 2024)
• Refund policy - We will be making plans & bookings based on registrations. So please honor that investment by not taking your commitment to be there lightly. We all have busy lives and ministry challenges that come up, so short of an absolute emergency let’s make sure our yes is yes. A $500 fee per person will be deducted from refunds requested at least 30 days before the event. Within 30 days of the trip, however, no refunds will be given other than under extraordinary circumstances. 

Travel

• Further detail will be provided, but you'll want flights arriving in Johannesburg, South Africa (JNB) on Monday July 15th or 22nd depending on which retreat option you choose. * Those departing the US will depart the evening before on Sunday (14th or 21st).
• Most return flights will be booked to depart Monday 22nd or 29th in the evening. Options exist to extend your stay a day or two for local ministry but need to be coordinated the Barnabas team.

Things To Note

• Hunters: You do not have to have a hunting license to participate at Shikwaru. Rifle experience is beneficial but not required. Bow opportunities also exist.

• You will need a current passport.

• Covid vaccination is not required to enter South Africa or eSwatini.
• To honor our local hosts, some stops on this trip will not be suitable for drinking alcohol if that is something you normally enjoy.
